The Forest Hills football team kicked off its season with a 20-0 victory against Elm City on Thursday.
The game was scoreless until just before halftime, when safety Mahki Eatmon returned an interception for a touchdown and a 6-0 margin at intermission.
With less than a minute left in the third quarter, the Bucks upped their lead to 14-0. Quarterback Patrick Dew tossed a TD pass to Foster Barnes and Dew sneaked for the two-point conversion.
Eatmon scored on a running play to complete the scoring.
Forest Hills visits Toisnot next Thursday.
Toisnot turns back South Edgecombe
Behind a pair of touchdowns and over 100 rushing yards from Jahnille Jones, Toisnot opened its football season with a 32-20 conquest of South Edgecombe on Thursday.
Ceonte Jones throw for a TD and rushed for a TD.
Leading the Hawks defense were Caleb Hinnant with five tackles and Rocshawn Hall with six stops.
The Hawks will host Forest Hills next Thursday.
Wilson Prep posts another 9-0 win
The Wilson Preparatory Academy boys soccer team continued to roll, needing just 40 minutes to enforce the mercy rule by a 9-0 margin against North East Carolina Prep on Thursday.
Notching hat tricks (three goals) were Dylan Skinner and Coleton Ellington. Evan Gregory, Zachary Mobley and Jerome Thomas each netted one goal.
The Tigers’ assists leader was Justin Ellison with a pair. Jakob Byrne, Skinner and Ellington added one each.
Christiaan Bullock and Ellison combined for the shutout in goal.
NECP did not get off a shot.
