Behind 18 points from Daidien Sutton and 17 from Drew Pittman, the Springfield boys basketball team won for the ninth time in 10 games this season with a 51-27 blowout of host Elm City on Thursday afternoon.

The Vikings, now 1-9, were led by Tylee Vick’s eight points.

Springfield will visit Toisnot on Monday while Elm City travels to Darden.

Lady Vikings rip Springfield 39-14

Elm City waylaid visiting Springfield 39-14 in Thursday’s girls basketball action, moving the Lady Vikings to 9-1 on the season.

Jewel Brewington led Elm City with 17 points while Connie Pleasants added nine points. Springfield (3-7) was paced by Kameron Phaby with six points.

Lady Bucks keep pace with Elm City

Forest Hills kept pace with Elm City atop the Tricounties Athletic Conference South Division girls basketball standings as the Lady Bucks handed Darden a 40-17 defeat Thursday.

TiAsia Taylor’s 15 points paced the Lady Bucks, tied with Elm City at 9-1, while Jamaria Freeman added 10 points.

N. Moody and D. Rickets (first names not provided) each scored five points for the Lady Trojans.

Forest Hills plays host to Speight on Monday.

Cougars hold off Hawks 29-24

Morris Howard’s 12 points helped Speight claim a 29-24 victory over Toisnot in Thursday’s boys basketball action.

Cam Barbee added nine points and 13 rebounds for the Cougars, who will play at Forest Hills on Monday.

Tigers fall to Wayne Prep, 44-29

Wilson Prep suffered just its second loss in 13 boys basketball games this season with a 44-29 home defeat at the hands of Wayne Prep on Tuesday.

Jamarion Davis had nine points to lead the Tigers, now 11-2, while Dylan Skinner tossed in eight points and Davis Ellis added seven points.

Wilson Prep is off until Tuesday, Jan. 28, when it hosts Winterville Charter.

Toisnot reaches 8-1 with defeat of Darden

The Toisnot boys basketball team claimed its eighth win in nine tries Tuesday afternoon, ekeing past Darden 35-31.

N’carrius Woodard led the Hawks with 10 points. Ahmad Johnson added seven and Khamani Barnes had six.

Toisnot visits Speight on Thursday.
