MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Elm City girls soccer finishes regular season unbeaten

The Elm City girls soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 12-0 record Tuesday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over visiting Toisnot.

Champions of the Tricounties Athletic Conference South Division, the Lady Vikings will host Southern Nash, the No. 2 seed from the North in Monday’s tournament semifinals.

Natalie Capps, Caroline Adkins, Avery Lentz and Reagan Nelson each had a goal and  an assist for Elm City. Hayley Selfe, Eva Weaver, Mallory Jenkins and Sadeel Hamed tallied goals, while Kate Conoley provided one assist.

Toisnot concluded its season with a 2-7-2 record.

 

BASEBALL

Barnes’ perfect game boosts Vikings by Toisnot

Jackson Barnes tossed a perfect game, striking out 10 of the 15 batters he faced Tuesday in a 16-0, five-inning win over Toisnot.

Offensively, Luke Bedford paced the Vikings with three hits as Elm City finished the regular season unbeaten in 12 games and as champions of the Tricounties Athletic Conference South Division.

Blake Reason, Jake Flowers and Jackson Barnes tacked on two hits apiece.

Toisnot concluded with a 6-4 record.

Elm City will host the No. 2 seed from the South Division, Southern Nash, in Monday’s semifinal.
