Johntavious Murray had 22 points and four rebounds to lead the Darden boys basketball team to a 37-33 win over Forest Hills on Monday.
Murray added four rebounds and four assists for the Trojans, now 3-0. Julian Ellis tallied eight points and four assists
For Forest Hills (1-2), Trevor Best had 14 points to lead the Bucks. Makhi Eatmon added eight points and Blessed Carmen tacked on four.
Darden is at West Edgecombe on Wednesday.
Lady Bucks trounce Trojans 46-22
The Forest Hills girls basketball team remained unbeaten at 3-0 with a 46-22 win over Darden on Monday.
Kaitlyn Adams had 15 points for Forest Hills, while Ti’Asia Taylor added 12. Jamaria Freeman had nine points.
The Lady Bucks are at Toisnot on Wednesday.
Elm City wallops Springfield 37-17
Avery Lentz had 14 points and Jewel Brewington added 12 as the Elm City girls basketball team won its first game with a 37-17 conquest of Springfield on Monday.
Jordan Corbett had eight points for Springfield (1-3).
The Lady Vikings will return to action on Jan. 9, hosting Darden.
Vikings now 4-0 with win over Wildcats
A balanced effort from the Elm City boys basketball team helped the Vikings stay unbeaten Tuesday afternoon with a 54-41 win over Springfield
David Telfer had 14 points for Elm City to lead three players in double figures. Lavon Dickens had 12 and J.D. Graziani netted 10. Drew Pittman added nine points.
Springfield dropped to 2-2 with the loss and was paced by Daidien Sutton, who led all scorers with 19.
Lady Cougars trounce Toisnot 50-24
Behind double-doubles from Daneesha Briggs and Keyarah Hinnant, the Speight girls basketball team departed for the holiday break with a 4-0 record following a 50-24 victory over Toisnot.
Briggs had 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Hinnant had 12 points and snared 10 boards for the Lady Cougars.
Speight is off until Jan. 9, when it hosts Forest Hills.
All 11 Tigers score in rout of SWA
Every player scored for the Wilson Prep boys basketball team Friday in a 61-20 win at home against Southern Wake Academy.
Leading the way for the Tigers, who led 28-0 after one quarter, were Micah Buck and Jamarion Davis with 10 points each while Zachary Mobley had nine points and Isaiah Buck added eight points.
WPA girls lose at home
Visiting Southern Wake Academy doubled up Wilson Prep 40-20 in girls basketball action Friday.
Jaylene McGhee was the only Lady Tiger to score in double figures with 10 points.
