Adin Moran slammed a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to send the host Wilson Prep baseball team into the championship game of the conference tournament with a 7-6 conquest of Southern Wake Academy on Tuesday.

The Tigers, regular-season conference champions, boosted their record to 8-2. Against Southern Wake, Wilson Prep rallied from a 6-3 deficit in the bottom of the third inning.

Austin Wooten launched the comeback with an inside-the-park home run. In the fifth, Evan Barnhill singled in Justin Ellison. With two outs in the sixth, Deandre Sellers’ hit brought home Zevin Boose with the tying run.

Setting the stage for Moran’s walk-off hit was Barnhill reaching on an error and Wooten banging out a single. Moran also squelched a Southern Wake threat in the top of the seventh by snaring a line drive.

Gage Lockhart, a left-hander, relieved in the third inning and pitched scoreless ball the rest of the way in claiming the win.

The championship game is set for Thursday evening.
