Meals on Wheels agency celebrating expansion

The Wilson County Office of Senior Citizens Affairs Inc. Board of Directors and the staff of the agency would like to thank the members of First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James McKinnon and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Watkins for the 36 years we have been able to serve Meals on Wheels to the community.

It has been a great partnership through the years making it possible for us to help many seniors have a nutritious meal and promote good health. Without First Presbyterian, so many seniors would have suffered malnutrition, health issues, etc. All of you are “guardian angels.”

Due to the number of seniors needing meals, we have outgrown our space at the church and expansion is needed. We have moved to 2101 Tarboro St., Suite C, as of Monday, March 6, to meet the ongoing needs of our community. We will be adding 40 new clients soon and others on the waiting list will be added as quickly as possible.

We are forever grateful to First Presbyterian Church and your members who volunteer, giving selflessly of their time and talent to help brighten the days of those we serve. We will be having a 2 million-meal celebration and grand opening in April, and we certainly want all of you present. Without you, there would be no celebration.

We offer a heartfelt thank-you for our long-running partnership and look forward to continuing the relationship so we can serve our people.

On behalf of Wilson County Senior Citizens Affairs and the seniors we serve, thank you.

Nancy G. Sallenger
Chairman, Wilson County Office of Senior Citizens Affairs
