The newly established Wilson Ladies League christened golf competition at Willow Springs Country Club earlier this week.

Leading the field was Willow Springs’ Sue McGuire with a round of 87.

Joining McGuire as First Flight winners was Happy Valley Country Club’s Shirley Baker, who claimed low net with a 71.

Lucille Stolo of Wedgewood Public Golf Course carded low gross of 99 in the Second Flight. Judy Mooring, also from Wedgewood, posted low net of 79.

Sharing the low putts (32) distinction were Susan Baker of Willow Springs and Priscilla Brewer of Wilson Country Club.

The Wilson Ladies League was recognized as Quad City in 2016 and was initially the Tri-City Ladies League.

League publicist Cathy Causway said the new league was established to permit any woman to participate without having to be a member of a club. New league members are welcome.

The next outing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on May 2 at Happy Valley.
