Wilson police: Man injured in Thursday night shooting

Authorities are investigating a Thursday night shooting on Rountree Avenue that left a man injured.

Police responded to an 11:20 p.m. shots-fired call in the 1100 block of Rountree Avenue.

While officers were responding, they were told there was possibly a victim who had been struck by gunfire, according to Sgt. Stuart Haste. As officers were checking the area, they found Marquise Tingle of Wilson near the intersection of Woodard Avenue and New Bern Street suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, Stuart said.

Tingle was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment of his injuries.

No arrests had been made as of press time Friday and no suspect information was released.
