A Wilson man faces charges after a traffic stop led to the seizure of drugs and a stolen handgun.

On March 16, Wilson police conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Raleigh Road Parkway. While conducting the stop, officers saw marijuana inside the vehicle, which was driven by 21-year-old Kahdeem Nakie Hinnant, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

Officers searched the vehicle and found 6 grams of marijuana, 14 doses of MDMA and a stolen handgun, police said. The handgun was reported stolen in Raleigh, Stroud said.

Police arrested Hinnant and charged him with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of Schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a place or vehicle for controlled substances and carrying a concealed weapon.

Stroud said Hinnant was jailed without bond because he was on pretrial release after posting bail on unrelated charges.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
