GOLDSBORO — Authorities charged a North Carolina man this week with molesting and sexually abusing a young girl in Wayne County over a seven-year span.
Sheriff’s deputies charged 44-year-old Bradley Bernard Gross of Heritage Creek Way, Greensboro, with 10 counts each of felony child abuse by committing a sexual act and taking indecent liberties with a child, Detective Capt. Shawn Harris said in a Wednesday news release.
Gross assaulted the girl, who is now 12, between 10 and 15 times in Wayne County beginning in January 2011, Harris said. The most recent incident allegedly happened Tuesday morning.
Clinton police reported sexual abuse allegations to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in January, prompting an investigation. Harris said the Clinton Police Department, Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Sampson County Department of Social Services and Southern Regional Area Health Education Center child abuse specialty clinic in Fayetteville shared information in the probe.
Gross was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center in Goldsboro under a $1 million secured bond.
