A Wilson man is being held under a $50,000 secured bond after he was accused of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
On Tuesday, police arrested and charged 42-year-old Bennie R. Farmer, who faces two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child stemming from an alleged incident in February, according to officials.
In February, police responded to a home on Park Avenue where Farmer had been beaten by several family members of a woman he knew, according to police.
Farmer told police that a child who was living in the home had accused him of sexual misconduct, officials said.
As a result of the allegation, Farmer was assaulted, officials said.
Three men were charged in the physical assault against Farmer, according to police.
Farmer had obvious “facial injuries,” police said.
An investigation into the accused sexual misconduct was conducted by the Wilson Police Department, which then arrested Farmer this week.
