Wilsonians who want to take advantage of deals and promotions at local businesses without clipping coupons can download a new mobile app that puts savings in their pocket.
The Wilson Times has launched WT Rewards, a smartphone app that features exclusive offers from Times advertisers. Users can view the deals through the app, visit participating businesses and redeem the offers with the tap of a button.
“For many of us, the smartphone has replaced the computer as the device we use most often,” said Times General Manager Keven Zepezauer.
“We check our phones throughout the day, including when we’re out shopping. The WT Rewards app will help you save money at some businesses you already visit and others you may pass every day on your way to work, school or home.”
Deals are organized in five categories — food, fun, retail, services and auto. There’s also a “Near Me” category that will show all active promotions nearby based on the phone’s location.
Current specials include 15 percent off any order at Four Seasons Pizzeria, a free individual small or medium chocolate chip pizzert at Pizza Inn, a free dessert or tea with meal purchase at Oh My Lard, a free comic book at Dream Daze Comics Fun & Games, $10 off a purchase of $50 or more at the Gracie’s Village Shops, half-off registration fee at Land of Learning Child Care, 10 percent off brakes at Retro Lube of Wilson and 10 percent off any air conditioning repair at Medlin Buick GMC Mazda.
Some advertisers will offer multiple specials on the WT Rewards app. The Medlin dealership, Retro Lube, Dream Daze and Pizza Inn have five current offers each, while Four Seasons has four.
The WT Rewards app was developed through a partnership with Subscriber Promotions and is part of the Save Here Today national coupon network.
WT Rewards is available as a free download for iPhone users in the App Store and Android users in the Google Play store.
The mobile app is a value-added service for subscribers of The Wilson Times and ordinarily requires a subscriber ID code to unlock current offers. The Times is currently offering a 90-day free trial of WT Rewards for users who do not have a subscription.
“We’re on the cutting edge of mobile coupon technology and we want everyone in the community to see the money that subscribing to the Times puts back in your pocket,” Zepezauer said.
“Readers who use the WT Rewards app and take advantage of coupons distributed each Wednesday and Saturday can save enough money to cover the cost of their subscription and then some.”
The Wilson Times is offering a three-month home delivery subscription to new subscribers for $20 for those who redeem the promotion through WT Rewards.
