Claire Daughtridge will be the featured artist in Spring Arbor Art Gallery starting this month. The public is invited to the opening from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 22.
Daughridge is a member of the Wilson Active Artists Association, where she has served in many leadership roles.
Not only is Daughridge a prolific painter, she is also a committed student of art education, having taken art classes at Barton College, Wilson Community College and Studio One. She continues to hone her artistic skills in all mediums and subjects but is drawn to animals as subjects of her work.
She said she has found much joy in painting pet portraits, which she does on a commission basis.
Her work has been shown in the Arts Council of Wilson galleries, at Barton College, the Wilson Rose Garden, the Imperial Center in Rocky Mount, Emerge Gallery in Greenville and the Caswell Building in Raleigh.
Spring Arbor is located at 2045 Ward Blvd.
