Mary Elizabeth Whitt and Matthew Gayle Larson, both of Raleigh, were married in a 2 p.m. ceremony on Nov. 5 at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. The Rev. Hannah Vaughan officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Max Whitt of Wilson. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Tom Boswell of Wilson and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Herbert Whitt of Nashville. She graduated from Ralph L. Fike High School and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. She is an assistant scientist I at Alcami in Research Triangle Park.

Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jeffrey Larson of Orlando, Florida. He is the grandson of Barbara Bourne McDowell and the late Dr. John Williams McDowell Jr. of Arlington, Texas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Engelbart of Tyler, Texas. He graduated from Olympia High School and East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is employed as NK sales representative for Syngenta in Research Triangle Park.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a form fitting white Alencon lace Pronovias gown featuring a V-neck bodice with a plunging back which cascaded into a cathedral train. The waist was accented with a rhinestone filigree belt. She wore a lace garter handmade by her late grandmother, Mildred Boswell, and her aunt, Susan Batts. She also wore her mother’s pearl and crystal bracelet she wore on her wedding day.

For her headpiece she chose a custom, cathedral veil with a blusher featuring a ribbon edge. Her hair featured a halo hairpiece accented with pearls and Swarovski crystals. She carried a bouquet of cascading peach dahlias, white hydrangeas, white spray roses, light blue delphinium, blue thistle and ivory berries.

Kaitlyn Ann Maffuid was maid of honor, and Amanda Leigh Connor was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Candace Marie Larson, sister of the groom, and Kelly Jean Padykula, Brooke Russell Campbell, Jordan Leigh Provost, Malari Nichole Himmeger, Kathleen Paige Miller and Shawna Christine Schafle.

They wore navy chiffon V-back dresses designed with a lace illusion neckline and halter sleeve.

Flower girl was Olivia Taylor Leerkes, niece of bride. Her dress was styled with a full-length ivory tulle skirt with a satin sleeveless bodice and a navy bow sash.

Jeffery Christian Larson, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Spencer Thomas Whitt and Stuart Newman Jones, brothers of the bride, and Gregory Robert Connor, Kevin Scott Sullivan Jr., Andrew Spencer Phelps, Jared Taylor Brinkley, Jeffrey Roger Miller Jr. and John Jacob Fisher.

Ring bearers were Rickey Maxton Larson, nephew of the bride, and Mason Prasad Suedi.

Scripture readers were Meghan Brooke Boswell, Olivia Barnes Boswell, and Emma Kathryn Boswell, cousins of the bride

Wedding music was provided by Dr. J. Weisser. Jonathan and Stephanie Locklear, brother-in-law and sister of the bride, who sang a duet.

Register attendants were Thomas Michael Batts and Christopher Allen Batts, cousins of the bride. Program attendants were William Lee Boswell and Rachel Anne Boswell, cousins of the bride.

Wedding coordinator was Carolyn Stokley. Day of coordinators were Pam Rodgers, Lynnee Rodgers and Betsy Best

Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the parents of the bride at The Upper Room 1871 with dinner and dancing and music provided by E.G. Peters Band of Raleigh.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at The River Room on the eve of the wedding. Earlier in the day, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at Elijah’s, hosted by Wini Boswell and Susan Batts, aunts of the bride. A golf outing at Echo Farms was hosted by the father of the bride.

They have returned from a wedding trip to Bermuda and are living in Raleigh.

Aug. 27: A stock the kitchen party was hosted by Stuart and Morgan Jones, brother and sister-in-law of bride.

Oct. 2: A bridal shower was given by Josie Jones, Debbie Raper, Barbara Massey and Susan Batts.

Oct. 6: A bachelor weekend in Asheville was hosted by Jeffery Larson.

Oct. 21: A bachelorette weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, was hosted by Kaitlyn Maffuid and Amanda Connor.

Oct 24: A wedding shower was given for the couple by the bride’s work friends in RTP.
