Springfield needed just three sets to win Monday’s volleyball match at Speight as the Lady Wildcats remained undefeated through five outings with the 25-10, 25-15, 25-9 victory.

Setter Mackenzie Landers led Springfield with 11 service points to go with seven assists while Alex Williams totaled 10 points, nine hits and five kills. Kensley Evans chipped in eight service points and Audrey Earp had three hits and three kills.

The Lady Wildcats will host South Edgecombe on Wednesday.

Vikings thump S. Edgecombe 6-1

PINETOPS — Walker Barnes and Snyder Pearson each dropped in a pair of goals as the Elm City boys soccer team remained unbeaten through six games with a 6-1 conquest of host South Edgecombe on Monday.

Ethan Maness and Mason Ross each had a goal for the Vikings, now 5-0-1, while Robert Chandler, Hank Berry and Barnes each made an assist.

The Vikings host Springfield on Wednesday.
