Host Wilson Prep wasted little time in establishing dominance in its 61-39 victory over Alpha Academy of Fayetteville in the second round of the Carolina Athletic Association for Schools of Choice girls basketball playoffs Wednesday evening.
The No. 2-seeded Lady Tigers roared to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter and kept Alpha Academy (12-5) at bay on their way to their 21st straight win. Wilson Prep, now 21-1, will face No. 3 Winston-Salem Christian in the CAASC semifinals Friday at Forsyth Country Day in Lewisville. The Lady Tigers, in just their second season at the varsity level, exited in the second round last year.
Senior Jadore Lucas-Barnes led the Lady Tigers with 19 points while junior Trinity Mobley and eighth-grader Destiny Ainstead each netted 13 points. Junior Dymya Robinson added eight points.
