For the second year in a row, the Barton College women’s volleyball team will be tasked with opposing the host of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region.
That was the directive handed down by the selection committee Monday night as the 64-team bracket was unveiled for the NCAA Division II tournament, which will begin with regional competition Nov. 30 and run through Dec. 2.
Barton (23-7), the Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament champions for the second straight year, again earned the No. 8 seed and will take on Flagler in Saint Augustine, Florida on Thursday, Nov. 30.
The Saints (24-3) pocketed the No. 1 seed after capturing the Peach Belt Conference tournament title.
The Lady Bulldogs were the only Conference Carolinas entrant in the regional as Wingate (25-3), USC Aiken (25-5), Anderson (27-4), Queens (23-7), Georgia College (23-7) and Carson Newman (17-14) round out the rest of the eight-team region.
Winners of the eight regionals advance to the national quarterfinals at the University of West Florida Field House in Pensacola, Florida Dec. 7-9.
