TIGERVILLE, S.C. — The Barton College women’s soccer team had its season come to an end Monday afternoon with a 1-0 loss at North Greenville University in the quarterfinals of the 2017 Conference Carolinas tournament.
The lone goal came in the 57th minute, where NGU’s Karly Denaburg played a corner kick that was headed in by teammate Michaela Gleed.
Barton, the No. 5 seed, had its season ended at 8-8-3.
North Greenville the No. 4 seed, improved to 9-6-4 and faces top seed Limestone in the semifinals.
The Lady Bulldogs, who had a 4-3 edge on corner kicks, had a chance to equalize with 29 seconds to go off a set piece. Sophomore Laura Franco served into the box, but the header from classmate Maddie Robertson was saved by NGU keeper Madelynn Schober to preserve the shutout.
Careers concluded for goalkeeper Haley Sauls, Jessica Lime, Taylor Doeble, Nikki Helton and Rachel Krueger. Sauls had three saves in her final college match.
