Another overtime outcome went against the Barton College women’s soccer team on the Barton College Complex pitch Wednesday evening.

The second loss in three overtime league tests left Barton at 1-3 in the conference and 5-4 overall. Belmont Abbey climbed to 4-1 and 8-1, respectively.

The Lady Crusaders netted the golden goal less than two minutes into overtime. From six yards out at the top of the box, Mackenzie Lewis chipped a shot over the head of Barton goalkeeper Megan Bolick.

Nearly 39 minutes had elapsed when Barton grabbed a 1-0 lead on Laisy Scardazzi’s goal off a free kick.

Belmont Abbey countered with the equalizer in the 56th minute. On a give-and-go at the top of the box, Morgan Patton converted a pass from Sabrina Balogna.

The Lady Crusaders wound up with a 28-11 margin in shots. Barton’s Bolick recorded nine saves, while Belmont Abbey got three from Lauryn Harding and four from Caroline Lauer.
