A jury was selected Monday in the murder trial of a man accused in the 2017 shooting death of 31-year-old Harry Beecher.

Ramone Malone-Bullock, who has entered a plea of not guilty, will stand trial on a first-degree murder charge in Beecher’s killing.

Wilson police were called to the 600 block of Lincoln Street just after midnight on April 2, 2017. Officers arrived to find Beecher lying unresponsive in the road, police said at the time.

Officers began resuscitation efforts until Wilson Fire/ Rescue Services and Wilson County EMS arrived, but Beecher died at the scene. Officials say he suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest.

The jury was empaneled shortly after 4 p.m. Monday in Wilson County Superior Court. The jury is made up of eight women and four men. Two alternates were also chosen to hear the case.

The murder trial will resume with testimony at 9 a.m. Wednesday due to a scheduling conflict.
