The whole family can participate in this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Wilson County Public Library and its branches.

Here are events for the month:

Children’s Programs

The programs are at 7 p.m. at the main library.

Monday, July 2: Whirligig University Band Ukulele Sing Along. Families with children ages 3 and older invited.

Monday, July 9: Instrument Petting Zoo. Families with children ages 3 and older invited.

Tuesday, July 10: Explore flight with paper airplanes. Families with children ages 3 and older invited.

Monday, July 16: Hip Hop: The Art of Storytelling with Brandon Johnson. Families with children ages 3 and older.

Tuesday, July 17: Bridge Building with Keva planks. Families with children ages 3 and older invited.

Monday, July 23: For the Summer Reading Program finale enjoy the musical stylings of Kaira Ba, a West African fusion band. This is a Paul McRae Kushner memorial program. All ages invited.

Black Creek Library: Mondays at 3 p.m. on July 9, 16, 23

East Library: Wednesdays at 3 p.m. on July 11, 18, 25

Elm City Library: Tuesdays at 3 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24

Lucama Library: Tuesdays at 4 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24. Lapsit for ages 0-4 is July 11, 18 and 25.

Stantonsburg Library: Thursdays at 3 p.m. on July 12, 19, 26

Teens at Branches

Elm City Library: Thursdays at 4 p.m. on July 12, 19, 26

Lucama Library: Thursdays at 4 a.m. on July 12, 19, 26

MORE ACTIVITIES

Lapsit at the main library continues every Wednesday and Thursday starting at 9:30 a.m. for ages 0-2.

Preschool story time is on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. for ages 3-5. Family story time is on Saturdays at 3 p.m.

Friday morning family movies are also planned this summer. Enjoy a free movie as well as free popcorn and lemonade or take your own snack.

Groups are welcome, but arrange a visit in advance by calling Genevieve Baillie at 252-237-5355 ext 5050. Movies are at 10 a.m. on Fridays, July 6, 13, 20, 27.

Teens at Main

Events from 4 to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted. All programs will take place in the main library assembly room.

Thursday, July 19: Legendary Lego

Thursdays, July 26: Little Bits of Electronics

Saturday teen matinee is July 7, 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the main library assembly room. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Teens ages 13-18 welcome.

Adult Summer Reading Programs at Main

This year, there will be a summer reading program for adults with a series of music-related programs.

Tuesday, July 10: Read a book with a music theme and share your thoughts at 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 14: Family Fireside Sing Along at 3:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 17: Birdsong Painting Party from 2 to 6 p.m. Registration required. Call Genevieve Baillie at 252-237-5355, ext. 5050 to register.

Monday, July 23: Hear Kaira Ba, a West African fusion band at 7 p.m.

BOOKMOBILE

The Bookmobile will be making stops all summer.

Tuesday, July 10: Saratoga 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, July 11: Rock Ridge 3 to 4 p.m. and Sims 4:15 to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, July 31: Saratoga 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 1: Rock Ridge 3 to 4 p.m. and Sims 4:15 to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 21: Saratoga 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 22: Rock Ridge 3 to 4 p.m. and and Sims 4:15 to 5 p.m.

The Bookmobile is at Farmers and Artisan Market at Whirligig Park on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The library also provides crafts for the kids.
