The four-member team of Ricky Joyner, Tony Langston, Frank Ellis and Brady Pinner fired a 17-under-par 55 over the par 36-36—72 Wedgewood Public Golf Course layout to lead the First Flight and the overall field in the Wedgewood Ladies Golf Association’s second annual Four-Person Superball Tournament on Friday.
Finishing second with a 58 was the quartet of Bobbie Butts, Bruce Petway, Steve Bryant and Ashley Barnes.
The team of David Bryant, Carol Bryant, Sallie Kearns and Clayton Williams claimed third with a 59.
Setting the pace in the Second Flight was the foursome of Pat Capps, Carol Owens, Keith Fulghum and Matt Pridgen with a 63.
The group of Eleanor Barnes, Billy Gay, Jimmy Easom and Lavon Phillips wound up second with a 64, while taking third with a 66 was the team of Tim Bunn, Earl Proctor, Doug Owens and Red Davis.
Winning the prizes for hitting their tee shots closest to the pin on par-3 layouts were Butts on No. 4, Gerry Dunham on No. 7, Leander Green on No. 10 and Ellis on No. 12. Hitting his drive closest to the crooked line on No. 17 was Kevin Lamm.
The teams endured cool and windy weather and proceeds will benefit Wedgewood Ladies Golf Assocition charities.
