The YOUTH of Wilson County will host its third annual Jingle Bowl from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Westview Lanes in Wilson. And organizers say it’s not too late to join in for a good cause.
“Our goal is to get as many teams as possible,” said Tammy Daniel, YOUTH of Wilson County executive director. She said the event is held to meet the agency’s fundraising goal for the whole year.
“The funds raised go to our programs,” she said. “It’s fun to get out there and throw the ball down the lane for a good cause.”
The nine-pin, no-tap tournament is from 10 am. to 1 p.m. and is $25 per person for a team of four. Friday is the deadline to register. Teams can pay the day of the tournament, Daniel said. They will also have first, second and third place awards.
Daniel said teams so far include the YOUTH of Wilson board of directors, Bridgestone employees and community members.
“You don’t have to be a pro-bowler,” she said. “This is all about getting out there and having fun.”
Merck and Novartis are the main sponsors of Saturday’s event.
YOUTH of Wilson, a United Way agency, is celebrating 35 years of offering programs to Wilson County youth and changing many lives. The event will also feature free Bowling with Santa for kids ages 4 to 10 to enjoy.
“They can come in and take their picture with Santa,” Daniel said.
A silent auction will take place throughout the day with winning bid announced at 2:15 p.m. Daniel said various auction items have been donated by local businesses.
“This is all about family,” Daniel said. “There is something for the kids. There is something for the adults.”
