GOLDSBORO — Jeanette Webb Poythress, 79, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Jeanette will be remembered as a loving mother, Mimi and wife.

She was preceded to Heaven by her husband of 53 years, H.M. Poythress; and their son, Haywood Mercer Poythress Jr.

Jeanette was born in Edgecombe County on Feb. 9, 1939 to the late Lonnie and Minnie Wooten Webb May. She was employed for many years at Branch Banking and Trust. Jeanette and H.M. were owners of Pizza Inns of Goldsboro and Division One Foods, which still is a part of the Poythress family. The remainder of her life was spent as a doting wife, mother and grandmother. Jeanette loved spending her time with her daughter and granddaughters, shopping and loved traveling with them as long as her health allowed.

A service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Penny Ziemer officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Macclesfield Cemetery.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Jill Poythress of Goldsboro; two granddaughters, Kate and Hayden Nielsen; sisters-in-law, Norma, Elsie, Juanita and Doris, all of Wilson; cousins, Junior, Travis and Jimmy Wooten of Macclesfield and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews she loved very much. She is also survived by her dachshund and her constant companion, Tinker Bell Poythress.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Community Hospice for the love and care they provided for Jeanette, with special thanks to Crystal Sutton. Simple words cannot express our gratitude. Also we would like to express thanks to caregivers, Tracy, Sheryl and Donna, at R.T.S. who cared for Jeanette over these past months.

The family will receive friends 6 -8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 697 Lake Wackena Road, Goldsboro.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Jeanette’s memory to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
