Four residents of Wilson County towns filed paperwork Tuesday in a bid for public office in the fall, including three incumbents.
Ralph Smith Jr. currently serves as the mayor of Black Creek and hopes to be re-elected for another two-year term. Also seeking an additional two years in office were Elm City Commissioner Marsha Wells and Saratoga Commissioner Elaine Saunders. Walter Bynum is hoping to be elected for a four-year term on the Stantonsburg town commission, which has two seats up for grabs.
In total, there are 28 seats in seven Wilson County towns on the ballot. Since filing started at noon Friday, 12 people have submitted paperwork to local election officials. Filing continues through noon on July 19 for the Nov. 5 election.
