WINTERVILLE — Behind another record-setting performance from Trevor Holt, the Charles B. Aycock High boys track team finished second in Thursday’s 3-A/4-A Eastern Carolina Conference meet at South Central High.
Holt established a school record of 52 feet, 9 inches in prevailing in the shot put, and also claimed a runner-up showing in the discus.
The 3-A Golden Falcons got double wins from Karmarion Graham and Deshawn Owens. Graham sprinted to top finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while Owens prevailed in the 800 and 1,600.
Micah Castillo placed second in the 110-meter hurdles, while Muhammad Brooks and Isaiah Melvin wound up third and fourth, respectively, in the 200. Tahj Thacker placed fourth in the 100 and Randall Hobday salvaged fifth in the discus and shot put. In the high jump, CBA’s Jarius Hinnant took third and Tavarius Sanders fifth.
In the relays, CBA’s 4x100 and 4x800 units captured second. The 4x400 quartet finished third and the 4x200 squad wound up fourth.
