Eligible low-income households can apply for help with home heating expenses beginning Tuesday at the Wilson County Department of Social Services.
The federally funded Low-Income Energy Assistance Program provides a one-time vendor payment to help eligible households pay their heating bills during the winter months.
Eligibility requirements include:
• Households must meet income/resource eligibility and must apply
• Each household must be responsible for its heating expense
• Applicants must meet citizenship eligibility
There will not be automatic approvals, officials said.
Energy payments will go directly to the service provider, which may include power, gas or oil companies.
“We will continue to take applications for this assistance as long as we have funds remaining,” said Mary Mallory, Wilson County DSS employment and family well-being program manager.
To apply visit Wilson County DSS at 100 Gold St. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays beginning Tuesday.
