The North Carolina Guardian ad Litem program for the 7th Judicial District will offer guardian ad litem training for new volunteer advocates beginning in March.
A guardian ad liitem is a trained child advocate who is appointed, along with an attorney, to investigate and determine the needs of abused and neglected children who have been petitioned into the court system by the Department of Social Services. These children are usually in foster care.
The 7th Judicial District includes Wilson, Nash and Edgecombe counties.
Prospective volunteers who would like to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children can complete an application to secure their place in the upcoming training session. Guardians ad litem are also available to share information about the program with local civic groups.
