Mental Health America in Wilson County will highlight the mental health benefits of owning a pet and exercising at Saturday’s fundraiser, “Strut Your Pup Parade and Costume Contest.”

The event will be held at Matthis Park at 1015 Forest Hills Road and feature a canine parade around the quarter-mile track, followed by a dog costume contest. The fee for entering the pet costume contest is $7 per dog. Prizes will be provided by P.L. Woodard & Co.

The Maggie Society canine rescue group will be on site with rescue dogs and puppies ready and willing to give free snuggles and kisses. Applications for adopting these dogs, and others, will also be available.

Pet portraits will be available for purchase as will refreshments for both human and canine visitors. Pick up information about mental wellness and tips for making your life happier and healthier.
