Wilson authorities are working to determine the cause of a suspicious Thursday morning fire.

According to fire reports, Wilson Fire/Rescue crews arrived just before 6 a.m. and found fire on the porch of a house on the 1000 block of Vance Street.

“The structure was balloon frame-type construction and the fire had spread to the second floor inside the wall,” said Deputy Chief Jim Campbell. “Crews did an extensive overhaul to stop fire flow from extending into other areas of the structure.”

Wilson County EMS, police and Wilson Energy staff responded to assist in the incident.

“Investigation showed the fire to be suspicious but undetermined,” according to the fire report. “The home was vacant and under renovation.”

No one was injured during the incident.
