In the span of three days, the Wilson City Little League Ages 10-12 All-Stars went from one extra-inning extreme to the other.

Following a 1-0, eight-inning win over South Durham on Saturday, Wilson battled back to seize an 8-6 lead over Bull City in the fifth inning of Monday’s North Carolina Little League District 6 semifinal in Southern Bank Stadium.

But this time, Bull City’s Noah Gurrette hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to tie it, and once the game required extra innings in the seventh, Gurrette and Dominic Hurley had back-to-back two-run doubles to spark a five-run seventh and put Wilson in the loser’s bracket with a 13-8 setback.

To return to the finals, Wilson must now defeat South Durham again Tuesday at 6 inside SBS. If it does so, Wilson would have to beat Bull City twice Thursday night to win the championship.

After falling behind 4-0 after one inning, Wilson diligently chipped away at the margin. In the second, Caleb Maddrey’s groundout plated Gage Lockhart, and in the third, Hunter Lewis brought life to the crowd by launching a three-run homer that allowed Luke Bedford and Jake Flowers to score.

Bull City replied with two runs in the fourth to go up 6-4, only to see Wilson surge into the lead with four of its own in the bottom half.

Eldon Bass led off the inning with a double and scored on an error off the bat of Adin Moran. Bedford’s groundout plated another run to give Wilson the lead, and Lewis’s sacrifice fly to right field scored Flowers, who singled.

Trent Nichols smashed a ground-rule double to tie it.

Bull City outhit Wilson 16-12, with Flowers taking the loss in relief. The win went to Carrick Ryan, who tossed the last two innings for Bull City.

Lewis was 2 for 2 with four RBIs for Wilson. Guerrette finished 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and four driven in to pace Bull City. Luke Whitted was 3 for 5.

Will Taylor was 2 for 2 to help spur the Wilson offense,
