ProMusic Conservatory will present “An Evening in Warsaw” buffet concert on Saturday, April 6, at 6 p.m. at the conservatory, located at 105 Nash St. The buffet will feature Polish cuisine, while the concert will include music by Polish composers.
The concert will feature pianist Chibby Uwakwe. Chibby has studied piano at ProMusic Conservatory with Gayla Turk for the last nine years.
Last April, he won the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity talent competition and in July performed in the national showcase concert in New Orleans. Chibby will be performing the Warsaw Concerto by Richard Addinsell. The work was originally composed for the 1942 British movie “Dangerous Moonlight” about a composer composing a concerto in Warsaw in the lead up to World War II.
This will be Chibby’s final performance at ProMusic as he prepares to graduate from Fike High School this spring and enter college in the fall.
Other performers on the program will include Blake Boykin playing Chopin and Bennett Durham, Aidan Minior and Emilio Jaimes each performing a work by the Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski. In addition, the ProMusic Trio will be performing several Polish folk songs.
Tickets ($15 for adults and $8 for children under 12) must be purchased by Friday, March 29. For more information, contact ProMusic Conservatory at 252-291-3386.
