MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Elm City girls soccer stays unbeaten at 11-0

The Elm City girls soccer team extended its undefeated run to 11 matches with a pair of 5-0 victories against visiting Darden on Wednesday.

In both matches, the Lady Vikings claimed a 3-0 halftime lead.

Erin Pope and netted two goals in the first match, scoring in the 12th and 13th minutes on assists from Hannah Mosley and Haley Selfe, respectively.

In the 16th minute, Avery Lentz nailed a corner kick. Selfe knocked in a goal in the 18th minute and Mallory Jenkins concluded the scoring in the 22nd minute on an assist from Mosley.

Kate Conoley opened the scoring in the second match with a penalty kick in the seventh minute. A minute later, Pope converted an assist from Selfe. In the 10th minute, Jenkins netted a goal on a Mosley assist.

Mosley tallied in the 31st minute on an assist from Pope and, five minutes later, Pope concluded the scoring on an assist from Logan Woodruff.

Elm City got solid play from Kate Berry and Kinsey Jacobson in both matches.

The Lady Vikings end the regular season with a match at Toisnot on Monday.

Lady Bucks blank Speight 2-0

Kaley Gesell and Ryley Pridgen each drilled in a goal to lead the Forest Hills girls soccer team to a 2-0 triumph against Speight on Wednesday.

Collecting the assists were Kaylin Younes and Nathaly Castillo.

Vikings rap Wildcats for 8th straight win

Ethan Williams went 4 for 5 at the plate and picked up the pitching win in relief as the unbeaten Elm City baseball team won its eighth straight game with a 16-9 defeat of Springfield on Monday.

Williams, who scored four times and belted a pair of doubles, took over on the mound for J.D. Graziani, who tripled twice in the win.

The Wildcats dropped to 5-4.
