The Elm City baseball team now stands at 7-0 following victories on successive days.
One day prior to slugging its way past Speight on Thursday, the Vikings picked up a comprehensive effort at the plate to record an 8-3 win over South Edgecombe on Wednesday.
J.D. Graziani, the winning pitcher, tallied three hits, including a triple. On the mound, Graziani struck out five and scattered four hits.
Bryce Batten and Ethan Williams each went 2 for 4.
Against the Cougars, Ethan Williams struck out 10 of the 15 batters he faced, holding Speight without a hit in four innings. Offensively, Williams was a triple shy of the cycle in a 3-for-4 effort that included a home run.
Graziani, who doubled, was 3 for 4. Batten, Eldon Bass, Blake Reason and Noah Joyner had two hits each.
The final score versus Speight was not reported.
