Barton College sophomore Kaytlin Elkins helped launch the Lady Bullodgs’ defense of their NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball championship over the weekend, triggering her to the league’s Player of the Week honor, it was announced Monday.
Elkins averaged over five kills and three digs per set as Barton (5-11), the two-time Conference Carolinas regular-season and tournament champion, opened conference play with consecutive 3-0 wins over Belmont Abbey and Lees-McRae
She compiled 19 kills in a Friday sweep of Abbey and had 12 in a three-set victory at Lees-McRae on Saturday. Elkins reigns as the Conference Carolinas leader in total kills at 273 and kills per set at 4.7.
The Lady Bulldogs host archrival University of Mount Olive on Tuesday inside Wilson Gym.
