Electric, hybrid cars ideal for small-town life

In praise of our Chevy Volt and other electric vehicles, especially on cold mornings.

There’s no need to waste gasoline warming up the vehicle. Ours is a plug-in hybrid and we never buy gas unless we are on a trip to the cancer clinic in Greenville or to visit the kids in Winston-Salem. Our average mileage over the life of our ownership is nearly 70 mpg. When burning gas, we get an average of 47 mpg.

For small-town living, it’s a great option.
