With seven of the eight entries, the Hunt High boys swim team will carry the banner of The Wilson Times readership area into Friday’s North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A championships, to be contested at Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
The Warriors will have competitors in seven events, with the duo of junior Ethan Maddrey and sophomore Sanjeev Francis represented in four events each. Fike will be represented by junior Ryo Nakaya, who will swim from the No. 24 and final seed in the boys 50-yard freestyle.
Coming out of last week’s NCHSAA 3-A East regional, Hunt will have a pair of relay entries in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. In the 200 medley relay, Francis, Dante Gaetano, Ethan Maddrey and Zac Taylor will have the No. 18 seed. The same seed was assigned to the Warriors for the 200 freestyle with Francis, Maddrey, Taylor and Nick Tew competing.

Francis carries the No. 23 seed into the 100 butterfly and the No. 16 designation in the 100 backstroke.
Gaetano will swim in one individual event as the No. 22 seed in the 100 breaststroke.
Preliminaries begin at 9 a.m. and will run until competion, with the finals set for 4:45 p.m.
No area swimmers are represented in the 1-A/2-A championship, which is scheduled for Saturday.
