Eddie Ellis, 77, of Wilson, passed away Friday. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Chaplain Phil Baucom will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Eddie was member of the Wilson Elks Lodge and very active in the Jaycees at the local, state and national levels. He was a successful businessman in real estate, a general contractor, insurance salesman, an avid photographer and an owner of convenience stores. Eddie was loved by his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janice Williams Ellis of the home; sisters, Peggy Jenkins of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jenny Lucas and husband, Joe, of Wilson; brother-in-law, Jimmy Williams Jr. and wife, Wanda, of Greenville; his special nephew, Al Proctor of Wilson; a host of loving nieces and nephews and his cats, Annie and Brianna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Virginia Harris; sister, Louise Proctor; brothers, Rufus Ellis and Bill Ellis; his cats, BiBo, Mouse, Tootsie and Samantha and his dogs, Buddy, Dax and Littlebit.
