Sept. 8, 1953 — Oct. 15, 2017
LUCAMA — Dwight Wilber Rose Jr., 64, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017.
He was born Sept. 8, 1953 to the late Dwight W. Rose Sr. and Irene Edgerton Rose. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy R. Stephens.
Dwight leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Shelley Rose Black, and husband, Pruett, of Otto and Whitney Rose White, and husband, Nathan, of Taos, New Mexico; brother, Charles F. Rose, and wife, Elaine, of Rocky Mount; sister, Sarah Rose Windley of Durham; a very special friend, Edith Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Dwight sang with the Wilson Chorale for many years. He loved volunteering at the Lucama Community Center, serving as a tutor at Lucama Elementary and calling Bingo every Monday and Friday at Wilson Pines. Dwight modeled unconditional love to and respect for everyone he knew. He never met a stranger and ministered to anyone he could through friendship and kindness. He was a “gentle giant” in more ways than one.
