The sounds of R&B and Southern soul are coming to the Wilson County Fairgrounds this week. On Saturday, more than 15 artists will take the stage at the Down East Music Festival.

Sir Charles Jones, Roy C., Wilson Meadows, Jus Once Band, J. Red, Vick Allen, Black Diamond and others will perform live at the 3 p.m. concert.

Ricky Fuller is a member of Black Diamond and said the group is excited to take part in the show and share its sound.

He and his brother Clarence make up the group along with Karen Jackson and Reginald Barnes. The band will have its newest CD for sale at the show, along with merchandise from other performers.

Tickets for the show are $35 and VIP tickets are $60 and include access to a VIP area where artists will mingle with guests.

Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs and can also bring tents, but coolers and grills will not be permitted.

A portion of the proceeds from the Down East Music Festival will go toward the ItsDoable Inc. Back to School Book Bag Giveaway in August and will benefit programs for at-risk children.

Gates will open at 1 p.m. and the show will begin at 3 p.m. All tickets are nonrefundable as the event will take place rain or shine.
