Donations will help DAV buy new medical transport van

Thank you for being one of our most loyal readers. Please consider supporting community journalism by subscribing to The Wilson Times.

The Wilson County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8 once again takes great pleasure in thanking the wonderful, generous and patriotic citizens of the city of Wilson and Wilson County for your generous donations during our annual Fourth of July Forget-Me-Not distribution fundraiser drive.

The funds donated will go toward our veterans’ assistance programs, primarily to help us purchase a new van for our DAV transportation network. We transport Wilson County disabled veterans and non-disabled veterans to their medical appointments at Veterans Administration medical facilities, primarily at the VA’s Durham, Raleigh and Greenville locations.

DAV Chapter 8 wants to give a special thank-you to the following Wilson businesses that graciously allowed us to fundraise at your facilities:

• Parker’s Barbecue — Thank you, Kevin Lamm, Eric Lippard and Donald Williams.

• Tractor Supply Co. — Thank you, Don Willby and Nicole Killen.

• Golden Corral — Thank you, Kendra Houston and Marie Pierre.

Chapter 8 salutes you all!

Again, to the generous donors, thank you, you all make it possible for us to carry out our mission. So when you see the DAV van painted battleship gray and Army green transporting veterans, know that you helped to make it possible.

I must also thank the DAV members and friends of the DAV who worked the fundraiser for sacrificing your valuable time over this Fourth of July holiday. God bless you all.
