Across the country, 5K runs on Thanksgiving Day are annual traditions, and Wilson can now be included in the cities hosting those events.

Last year’s inaugural Arc of Wilson Gobble Wobble 5K race attracted 366 registrants, with more than 40 runners coming from states other than North Carolina, including Texas and Arkansas, and solidified itself as an annual family event and fundraiser for The Arc of Wilson County.

The 2018 Arc of Wilson Gobble Wobble will be held Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day, beginning and ending at the Paul V. Berry Park, 200 Kenan St. All ages and abilities are invited to participate in this non-sanctioned 5K and family Fun Run.

This year, all 5K participants can place their order for their free official Wilson Gobble Wobble shirt when they register through Nov. 9.

All Fun Run registrations will have the option to add on a shirt with their registration for as little as $8. Registration can be found online at https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Wilson/WilsonGobbleWobble.

Cost for the 5K run is $30 for adults, $10 for children 10 and under and $10 for individuals with I/DD. The 1-Mile Fun Run, Walk and Wobble costs $10, regardless of age and ability.

Registration/check-in runs from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m., and the Fun Run starts at 9:30 a.m. The awards ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.

All proceeds from this event support The Arc of Wilson County, which promotes and supports all activities in Wilson County that benefit the lives of citizens with developmental disabilities living in the community.
