NASHVILLE — Sheriff's deputies are searching for a suspect in the fatal shooting of an Elm City man on Sunday.

Michael Steven Stell, 34, is wanted on a murder charge in connection with the death, according to Chief Deputy Brandon Medina of the Nash County Sheriff's Office.

Stell is accused of shooting and killing 31-year-old Brandon Scott Keen Jr., whose last-known address was in the Elm City area.

First responders were called to 9000 Grover Road north of Nashville on Sunday and found Keen suffering from a single gunshot wound, Medina said in a Monday news release. Nash County EMS paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Medina said witnesses identified Stell as the suspect and told investigators he drove away in a green Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

Stell is 5 feet, 10 inches tall with brown eyes and brown hair and weighs about 170 pounds. Medina said he is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees Stell or knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. Those with information in the case are asked to call Detective Jonathan Hillis of the Nash County Sheriff's Office at 252-903-2453.
