BAILEY — Authorities have identified a victim and a vehicle of interest in a Christmas Eve shooting that’s still under investigation.

Harold Lucas, 67, was injured in a shooting Dec. 24 on the 8300 block of Old Smithfield Road outside Bailey.

Lucas is still being treated at WakeMed, but is expected to recover from his injuries, Chief Deputy Brandon Medina said in a Friday news release.

Deputies are still following up on leads and comparing interviews pertaining to the shooting, Medina said.

“Investigators have been in contact with Mr. Lucas and have been conducting interviews with multiple citizens in an attempt to get a motive for the shooting,” Medina said.

A burgundy Ford Fusion was seen leaving the scene and has been identified as a vehicle of interest in the case.

Authorities were called to a house at 7:45 p.m. and arrived to find Lucas suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medina said the shooting was isolated to the specific home.

One person had been detained for questioning and another person who left the scene was wanted for questioning.

Any information related to this shooting investigation can be relayed to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office at 252-459-4121 or Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
