Runner-up Fike is represented by three selections and third-place Southern Nash landed a pair on the 3-A All-Big East Conference boys tennis team announced this week.
The Golden Demons landed senior Michael Anders, junior Thomas Hodges and junior John Gliarmis, a trio that occupied the top of the singles lineup.
Proclaimed all-conference from Southern Nash were seniors Austin Bissette and Seth Whitley, who played at the top of the lineup.
Champion Rocky Mount not only boasted a trio of all-league players but claimed the player of the year and coach of the year.
The Gryphons placed the junior trio of Tyler Brice, Langley Salter and George Shannon in the all-conference lineup. Both Brice and Shannon went undefeated against Big East foes.
Brice was hailed player of the year, compiling a 16-3 record, ruling the Big East singles scene and reaching the East Regional finals in singles.
Barry Nethercutt, the coach of the year, directed Rocky Mount to a 13-0 mark before losing 5-1 to Chapel Hill this week in the third round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A playoffs.
Completing the all-league lineup are junior David Joyner of last-place Hunt, senior Stuart Whitehead of Northern Nash and sophomore Cameron Johnson and senior Austin Luper of Nash Centrall.
For Fike, Anders posted a 7-5 overall record and 6-2 conference mark in the No. 1 slot. In playing primarily No. 2 and occasionally No. 1, Hodges went 10-5 overall and 7-2 against Big East foes. Gliarmis finished 14-2 overall and was undefeated in 10 conference matches at Nos. 2 and 3.
Accorded honorable mention were Walker Gliarmis of Fike, Taylor Braswell of Hunt, Jacob Glover of Southern Nash, Landon Norwood of Rocky Mount, Nagee Wilkins of Nash Central and Jackson Nethercutt of Northern Nash.
Walker Gliarmis wound up 10-0 in the Big East and 14-1 in all matches.
