The Greenfield School varsity girls basketball team denied visiting Greenville Pope John Paul II a basket in the opening quarter, and did not allow double digits in any quarter Thursday night en route to an easy 45-15 win over the Lady Saints in 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference action.
The Lady Knights (5-6, 1-2 CPIC), who led 25-2 at the half, were led by the 22 points of Kaelyn Wall. While Wall outscored the visitors on her own, Chloe Howard also chipped in 11 for Greenfield.
“We played one of the best defensive halves we have played in the first half,” Greenfield head coach Bruce Wall said. “We got fast break points, and Chloe was knocking down some good shots.”
Kaelyn Wall, the daughter of the head coach, tallied five steals.
Greenfield is back in action Friday night against archrival Wayne Country Day.
