The inaugural Tommy Davis Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Wilson Breakfast Optimist Club, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 3, at Wedgewood Public Golf Course.

The Breakfast Optimist have sponsored a benefit superball golf tournament for decades.

However, the event is now named in memory of Davis, Wedgewood’s manager for two decades and a Breakfast Optimist member.

Tee times are planned for 8:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

The entry fee of $200 per four-player team includes carts, green fees and lunch, which will be served from 11:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.

This year’s tourney will feature a new (Seniors) division.

The total age for the four participants who form a Seniors team must exceed 275 years.

Proceeds benefit the following projects: the Wilson County Junior Golf Association, City of Wilson Little League baseball, the Wilson County Spelling Bee, the Boys and Girls Club and the Wilson Arts Council.
