Wilson Medical Center will hold a job fair for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses on its medical and surgical team from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at the hospital’s special meeting room No. 3. To learn more or RSVP, email stephanie.fox@lpnt.net.

AARP plans summer celebration

The Wilson AARP chapter’s annual summer celebration is planned for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11 at the Wilson County Agricultural Center, 1806 Goldsboro St. Games and social time will follow a covered-dish lunch. Door prizes will be awarded and canned food will be collected for local food banks.

All individuals eligible for AARP membership — adults 50 and older — are invited to attend. Attendees are asked to bring a dish for the luncheon.

Whirligig fest seeks volunteers

North Carolina Whirligig Festival volunteers will meet at noon Thursday, July 11 in the conference room at 316 Douglas St. near the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park.

Organizers are seeking additional adult volunteers to assist with all aspects of the festival. Attendees are invited to bring their own lunch. For more information, email Theresa Mathis at info@whirligigfestivalnc.org.

NAACP branch to meet

The NAACP’s Wilson branch will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11 at Jackson Chapel Church, 571 Nash St. E. The meeting was previously scheduled for July 4.

Free community breakfast offered

Freedom Ministries, 300 Fairview Ave., will have a free dine-in community breakfast from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 13.

Cancer support group to meet

Regional Medical Oncology Center, 2624 Ortho Drive, will hold a community support group meeting from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, July 18 in the front lobby. For more information, call 252-991-5261.

Yard sale donations sought

The Power Plex MultiSport Athletic Center is collecting donations for its scholarship fundraiser yard sale planned from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 26 at the 2601 Wooten Blvd. gym. Donations will be accepted a week before the event on Friday, July 19. The yard sale will feature food trucks, music and vendors.

Wilson County Dems plan meeting

The Wilson County Democratic Party will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Wilson County Public Library assembly room, 249 Nash St.
