The NAACP’s Wilson chapter will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4 at Jackson Chapel Church, 571 Nash St.

Church holding yard sale fundraiser

STANTONSBURG — St. Luke Free Will Baptist Church will hold a yard sale at 6 a.m. Saturday, April 6 on N.C. 58 near the Wilson County ABC store with furniture and clothes. There will also be barbecue chicken, fish and hot dogs. All proceeds go toward the church building fund.

Church to sell chicken plate sales

Freedom Ministries will have a barbecue chicken plate sale at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 at 2305 Redwood Drive. All plates are $8 and will consist of barbecue chicken, potato salad, green beans, cake and bread. For more information or to place an order, call 252-315-3421.

School plans car, truck show

Community Christian School, 5160 Packhouse Road, will hold its second annual classic car and truck show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13. In addition to the car show, there will be food, vendors, a DJ, games and a silent auction.

Scholarship applications due April 16

Applications for the Charles H. Darden Alumni Scholarship have been distributed to Fike, Hunt and Beddingfield high schools and the Wilson Early College Academy and are due on April 16.

Students who wish to apply can also pick up applications at the Darden Alumni Center, 1600 Lipscomb Road. For more information, call the center at 252-243-9136 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

ALS connection group to meet

GREENVILLE — The Greenville ALS connection group for Lou Gehrig’s disease will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 at the Vidant Rehabilitation Center classroom, 2100 Stantonsburg Road behind the children’s hospital.
