Town board calls special meeting

MIDDLESEX — The Middlesex Board of Commissioners will hold a special called meeting at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 for police personnel matters. There will be a closed session with action to follow.

Church to hold Christmas celebration

Jackson Chapel First Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at the Something Different restaurant. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

Fundraiser yard sale set for Saturday

St. Rose Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ’s youth department will have a yard sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 22 at 115 Cone St. N. All proceeds will benefit those in need with food, toiletries and warm clothing. For more information, call Dierdra Carey at 252-281-5105.

Country club hosting scholarship ball

The Williamson-Springfield Alumni Association’s annual scholarship ball, Christmas with the Wildcats, will be held at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at Wedgewood Country Club on Stantonsburg Road. Admission $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The dress is semi-formal.

Parade planned on Christmas Day

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 5142 N.C. 58 North, will have a Christmas parade at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25. Participation is free and those wishing to participate are asked to assemble at the church ball field parking lot at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call Steve Brewer at 252-243-0083.

Alumni center to host New Year’s ball

A New Year’s ball will be held from 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 to 1 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1 at the Darden Alumni Center, 1600 Lipscomb Road. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. All proceeds support the scholarship and building fund.
